Two to three days works for a first Cao Bang trip. Three days gives more time for Ban Gioc Waterfall, Lenin Stream, caves, mountain viewpoints, and slower countryside stops. Two days can cover the major highlights, but it will feel more compressed. If you want to combine Cao Bang with Ha Giang or Ba Be, plan extra days.

What should I pack for Cao Bang?

Bring comfortable clothes, a light jacket for cool evenings, rain protection, walking shoes, insect repellent, and cash for small purchases. Hot. In summer, you should pay attention to days with heavy showers and thunderstorms. I feel that overall, Cao Bang is slightly hotter than Ha Giang, perhaps because the valleys are larger so there are no big crevices to create strong winds.

Beautiful weather, easy to travel, the crowded season (more than other seasons).

Winter

Late winter (early January) in Cao Bang is the season of red leaves all over Xuan Truong and Trung Khanh areas. In this season, if you are unlucky and encounter a cold wave, thick fog will cover everything, it will be bitterly cold, and visibility on the road will be... 20 meters. But on beautiful days, it is extremely beautiful.
