My favourite coast in Vietnam
The road from Mui Dinh to Ca Na is the one for me. Rocky mountains on one side, open blue sea on the other. Give the journey as much time as the destination.
A personal field guide
For me, Vietnam's best coastline. Wild wind, pale sand, salt in the air, and a whole place worth slowing down for.
Ninh Thuan, sun-baked and real
People often skip Ninh Thuan, or visit one spot without discovering the place around it. I think that misses the best part: the coast between stops, the cheap food, and everyday life that carries on without an audience.

Ninh Thuan feels wild. Wind pushes across the sand, the sun is fierce, and you can almost taste the salt in the air. That rawness is exactly why I like it.
The food is some of the cheapest I've found. Away from better-known Vinh Hy, the place feels much less shaped around tourists. Leave an evening for Phan Rang and its little food stops.
Already going to Nha Trang or Da Lat? Ninh Thuan is close enough to make it part of a wider trip. Stay a few days for a quieter, less polished coast that many people pass by.
Bays, sand, rock, and the places in between.
Coastal road
The road from Mui Dinh to Ca Na pairs rocky mountains with wide coastal views.
Cape
Mui Dinh is super, super beautiful, with big waves but the water is still crystal clear.
Rock coast
An excellent sunrise-watching spot, it doesn't seem to require a ticket (or does it.
Bay
This is definitely the most famous tourist attraction, but many people don't know it belongs to Ninh Thuan.
Rock park
If you ask me what the stone park has, it only has stones, lots of stones.
Cham culture
A Champa cultural relic built 800 years ago—800 years means like 10 human lifetimes.
Activity
Grape gardens are another side of the region, beyond the coast.
City
A base for the coastal routes, a city beach, and evenings of cheap local snacks.

Ninh Thuan rewards early starts and flexible coastal timing. Move beach, grape, and viewpoint stops around harsh noon sun, wind, and sea conditions.

The time I think is the sunniest, but the sunnier it is, the more beautiful the sea gets. For Ninh Thuan, I prefer going in peak summer, like June or July; it's blindingly hot but undeniably beautiful.

Still the dry season, it is less sunny now, more pleasant, and the beaches are quite empty. It's just that the sea won't look as radiant with sunlight as in summer, but other than that, there's nothing to worry about.

The storm and rainy season for Vietnam's coastal areas; tickets are cheap but it's a gamble. If it just rains, it's fine, but if there's a storm, you won't be able to do anything.
The coast is only the beginning.
Come for the coast, stay for the strange mix: dry wind, blue water, Cham towers, grape gardens, sheep fields, and roads that look like they were built for a movie chase. Ninh Thuan is not polished, and that is the point.

Expect bright sea, pale sand, rock cliffs, and heat that does not play around. Start early, cover up, drink water, and save the brutal noon sun for a nap or a long seafood lunch.

Food is simple, local, and very affordable once you are in Phan Rang. Spend smarter on transport, then enjoy the easy wins: seafood, noodles, rice plates, fruit smoothies, and whatever small place looks busy.
Ninh Thuan does not have an airport. The easiest access is flying to Cam Ranh, then taking a taxi to Phan Rang - Thap Cham.
Inside Ninh Thuan, motorbike rental is cheap and flexible. Tourist taxis work well for families, groups, or anyone who does not ride.

Varies by season
Ninh Thuan also doesn't have an airport. The easiest way with the most flights is to fly to Cam Ranh; from here to the city of Phan Rang - Thap Cham takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes of travel.
Cam Ranh to Phan Rang: about 1 hour 30 minutes

Around 800k - 900k for a 4-seater car
From Cam Ranh airport to Phan Rang, you can only go by taxi. There used to be a bus, but this route has now been canceled, probably because too few people took it. The price is also very reasonable, around 800k - 900k for a 4-seater car for a distance of 70km, which is very cheap when split. You don't need to book in advance either; there are always taxis waiting outside and you don't have to worry about them overcharging you. If you want to be more careful, you can check via apps first and negotiate the price with them. Personally, I don't think it's necessary.
Around 70km from Cam Ranh Airport

Around 150k/day
Motorbike rental: Cheap, only about 150k/day, very easy to rent, no complicated procedures at all. You can even ask your homestay to rent one for you. Since Ninh Thuan is very, very sunny, so sunny that it dries out the skin and burns like a frying pan, you need to wear full sun protection so you don't get too exhausted.
Very easy to rent

Depends on route distance
Very suitable for family trips or those who don't know how to ride a motorbike. The tourist taxi will go with you all day with flexible timing; they usually take you to all the famous spots and even suggest an itinerary for you. The price depends on the distances you choose, short trips are cheap, longer ones cost more, but it's still affordable, and 4-, 7-, and 16-seater vehicles are all available.
